Made in Norway

Made on a small island in Norway.

Finnøy, Stavanger. Jakob is a carpenter and joiner, and the boards are sanded, checked and marked in his own workshop before they leave the island.

The three boards on a rock in a pine forest

For those who wonder

What Lautio is, and what Accoya is.

Two short answers here. The whole story lives on its own page.

The material

What is Accoya?

Solid pine, changed at the level of the cell. Acetylation swaps the parts of wood that soak up water for parts that do not, so the board stays flat and tight when it gets wet, instead of swelling, warping or cracking. No plastic is needed to make it survive.

The company

About Lautio
